Dermal Fillers

Injectable Fillers

Dr. Kirk A. Churukian can help patients who want to reduce the appearance of deep wrinkles and creases by using JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel and Restylane® injectable treatments at his practice near San Jose. These treatments are minimally invasive and require little to no down time. In fact, they are frequently called “lunch time procedures” because they are so quick and painless.

JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel

Like the other injectable dermal filler treatments available at Dr. Churukian’s practice, JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel can be used to help patients reclaim the firmness and fullness of youthful skin. Not only can the JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel treatment smooth wrinkles, it can also fill in various types of facial creases and add much-needed volume to cheeks that appear hollow. Similar in composition to Restylane®, the main component in JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that serves to cushion and lubricate connective tissue, allowing for a full, firm look.

Because hyaluronic acid is readily and harmlessly absorbed by the body over time, the JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel treatment lasts 9 to 12 months and can be repeated to maintain the aesthetic benefits. Contact Dr. Churukian today to learn more about JUVÉDERM™ Injectable Gel and how it can help you regain a youthful look.

Restylane®

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds (the creases that run from the sides of your nose to the corners of your mouth). Restylane® is a cosmetic dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a natural substance that already exists in the human body which lubricates and cushions connective tissue. With age, the body’s levels of hyaluronic acid diminish, causing the skin to lose its suppleness. Restylane® replenishes the hyaluronic acid that the body loses.

Restylane® maintains its shape using the body’s own moisture. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is hydrophilic or “water loving.” As hyaluronic acid decreases, the molecules bind to water, and, over time, the same volume can be maintained with less hyaluronic acid. Because of this binding to water, hyaluronic acid-based treatments provide lasting results. Restylane® is free from animal proteins. This limits any risk of animal-based disease transmissions or development of allergic reactions to animal proteins. Restylane®, like any injectable filler, requires maintenance treatments so that you can stay looking your best.
